CHERYL LYNN, cuyo nombre real es Lynda Cheryl Smith, nació el 11 de marzo de 1957 en Los Ángeles, California. Es conocida por ser una destacada cantante estadounidense de R&B, Soul y Disco, especialmente famosa a finales de los años setenta e inicios de los ochenta por éxitos como Got To Be Real, Shake It Up Tonight, If This World Were Mine (a dúo con Luther Vandross), y Encore. Su carrera comenzó en el coro de su iglesia y se catapultó tras ganar en el concurso The Gong Show, lo que la llevó a firmar con Columbia Records
