Kalima

KALIMA fue una banda británica de jazz-funk formada en Manchester en 1980. Originalmente se llamaban Swamp Children y eran parte de la escena post-punk de la ciudad. La banda estaba compuesta por Ann Quigley (voz), John Kirkham (guitarra), Cliff Saffer (saxofón), Tony Quigley (saxofón y teclados), Martin Moscrop (trompeta), Chris Lee (trompeta), Andy Connell (teclados) y Danny Evans (bajo). En 1983, cambiaron su nombre a Kalima después de que la cantante Ann Quigley dejó la banda. Bajo este nombre, lanzaron cuatro álbumes y varios sencillos en Factory Records entre 1983 y 1990. Su música incorpora elementos de jazz, funk, samba y pop, y a menudo se asocia con el movimiento jazz-funk británico de los años 80.
