The Jam

THE JAM fue una influyente banda de rock inglés que marcó la escena musical de finales de los años 70 y principios de los 80 con su estilo distintivo de new wave y punk rock. Originarios de Woking, Surrey, el grupo fue formado en 1972 por Paul Weller, Rick Buckler y Bruce Foxton. Se destacaron por revivir el movimiento mod y por su música que combinaba R&B duro y directo con influencias de bandas como The Who y The Kinks, así como del soul de sellos discográficos como Stax y Motown. A lo largo de su carrera, lograron posicionar 18 sencillos en el Top 40 de las listas del Reino Unido y su último álbum, The Gift, alcanzó el número uno. A pesar de su éxito en Europa y Japón, nunca lograron conquistar el mercado americano, en parte debido al carácter muy británico de sus letras y estilo
