The Triffids

THE TRIFFIDS fueron una influyente banda de rock alternativo y pop formada en Perth, Australia Occidental, en mayo de 1978 por David McComb, quien fungía como cantautor, guitarrista, bajista y tecladista. Conocidos por su sonido distintivo que mezclaba indie rock, folk rock y country, The Triffids lograron éxito tanto en Australia como en el Reino Unido y Escandinavia durante la década de 1980, antes de disolverse en 1989. Entre sus canciones más conocidas se encuentran “Wide Open Road” y “Bury Me Deep in Love”. Su álbum de 1986, “Born Sandy Devotional”, fue destacado en la serie de televisión de SBS “Great Australian Albums” en 2007 y ocupó el quinto lugar en el libro “The 100 Best Australian Albums” en 2010. Ian McFarlane, historiador de música, describió a The Triffids como “uno de los grupos post-punk más queridos de Australia”, alabando la forma en que McComb “infundió sus melancólicas canciones con una imaginería austera pero hermosa y única de Australia”
